While still working for at the Higher Courses, from 1920 K. Vasiliauskas organised a technical division where he taught mechanics and construction statics. In 1922, when the Higher Courses were reorganised into the University of Lithuania, he established the Department of Construction statics and Laboratory of Strength of Materials that was the best one in the Baltic Region according to the standards of that time; he was the head of the laboratory for 35 years. It is the oldest thesis stored at the Museum.
